Mount Baldy is a classic Southern California hike – also known as Mount San Antonio at 10,068 ft it’s the highest mountain in the San Gabriel Mountains and the highest point in Los Angeles County. We took the easy route by taking up the ski lift and from there it’s a three hour round trip at moderate pace. It’s high enough to feel the altitude especially on the steep final descent.

There’s some stunning views on the way up and at the summit you can see the whole of the LA basin to the West, endless desert to the east and mountains to the south. Here’s some photos of the journey:

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
